Orinda homes for sale are among the most sought after homes in the East Bay Area. Orinda California is one of the three cities comprising the LaMorinda area of the East Bay Area.

Because of Orinda’s convenient commute location and it easily-accessible Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) station, Orinda appeals to homeowners commuting anywhere in the San Francisco Oakland Bay Area.

Orinda is served by the Orinda Union School District and the Acalanes High School district – among the best public schools in the nation! It is also home to the Orinda Country Club.

Orinda, and its population of a little over 18,000, is located just east of Oakland in the San Francisco Oakland Bay Area.

Orinda was named after poet Katherine Philips, who was herself nicknamed after a “pastoral setting”.

The area was known as “Orinda” before the turn of the twentieth century, but it wasn’t until 1985 that it was finally incorporated.

Orinda became more popular and developed steadily after the 1937 opening of the Caldecott Tunnel. Orinda enjoys a close proximity to San Francisco and Oakland and is served by the Bay Area Rapid Transit District (BART) through the Orinda BART Station.

Its median income per household is around $187,000 per year.
